I have been impressed with Elive and e17 for quite a while...

Yesterday I did two things:

1. I re-installed Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

2. I installed a dual boot to Elive Gem 1.0

Both installs went without event, I was most impressed with how Elive set up a custom grub menu, with the 3 options:

1. Elive Gem 1.0

2. Windows XP Media Center Edition

3. Memory Diagnostic test

I was also impress

Last year I downloaded a Elive CD and was pretty amazed by it. although it did crash alot but I saw the potential :)

Now, a few month's ago I bought a HP DV9064ea and I thought by myself let's give elive another run and everything runs out of the box once you install it, unbelievable even the integrated webcam seems to function.

Great job with this fine distro :)

When Vista came out, that's when I said,"I have had enough of Windows!".

It gets me that every time Microsoft comes out with a new OS, might as well throw the old one out. Linux is so expandable and we all work together to come out with things as sweet as Elive!

One of the best things i ever tested!!! So fast and smooth, its my dream OS. I have a P4 with 512mb and runs very fast, and i dont even installed it!!!!

Windows Vista? 1GB for optimal performance?? NOT!

This is one of the only 'different' distros that is also fully featured and ready to use out of the box(you know what I mean....) elive Gem also works with my wireless card that isnt supported with uBUNTU anymore(typing from elive now) Its all looking very good!!

Elive 1.9.28 development released

-

The Elive Team is proud to announce the release of the development version 1.9.28

  • Partitions: Better detection and listing of the partitions for the live mode and the installer. If you encounter any problem since this version of Elive, please report it!.
  • Raid: Now the fake-hardware (featured by the motherboard Bios) RAID disks are supported (thanks to the help and tests of watchwolf). A small help about RAID (software mode) is added in the installer describing how to install Elive on raid devices.
  • Macbooks: We have switched from Lilo to Grub, in the previous versions of Elive you saw that sometimes the system doesn't boot anymore after running the fine-tune step because of some problems with lilo. This is now solved by using grub.
  • Installer: The development is now all concentrated on the installer, with a large number of minor bugfixes and features.

Note that this is a DEVELOPMENT version. Download the ISO from the development section
