This is a special version of Elive for the Zeitgeist Movement

Important: Zeitgeist is a revolutionary movement so it contain things that some persons will like and others no, doesn't exists any ideology or movement that everybody will like it. Elive has made a special version that inclues some features for this movement (listed below) and has no relation at all with the normal version of Elive, this is why is there a different version instead of include these things on the normal version of Elive (even bookmarks). This is just like the Compiz version, not everybody will like to be forced to use the Compiz effects on Elive and this is why is good to have available the choice. Note to the religious persons: Zeitgeist is not against religion, it is against the monetary system and it uses a reference as an example of how the way money can make a good thing go bad.


This version includes some modifications of the original Elive version, it will be updated from time to time based on the last updates of Elive. Some software, applications or features of the main Elive system are removed in order to allow other specific features for Zeitgeist, for example:

• Firefox Bookmarks: All the Zeitgeist Bookmarks are included
• Openoffice: Office suite for any kind of office work, includes the ones known as "word, excel, powerpoint"
• RSS readers: Liferea, automatically reading the Zeitgeist related feeds
• IRC Chat: It autoconnects directly to the Zeitgeist IRC servers and enter in the main channels
• Email: An Email client installed by default
• Mumble: Zeitgeist Voice Chat configured, but the version is 1.1.4 but looks like is needed 1.2.0. In other words: you will need to wait an update that includes the new version if you want to use it.
• Documents: Some PDF documents of Zeitgeist directly included
• Videos: All the Zeitgeist related videos are included (torrents)
• Wallpaper: A very nice Zeitgeist wallpaper, and if you click on the planet... surprise!
• Activism: It includes all the tools needed for an Zetigeist Activist, bookmarks, chat, voicechat, documents, videos, torrent client, office suite, email, etc...

Note: Actually is needed to pay for the stable versions of Elive, but the Zetigeist special version will remain allways free of charge.

It is strongly recommended to boot from a USB instead of a CDROM, you can do it even if your computer doesn't boot from a USB, more details in this FAQ entry
