Elive 2.7.2 beta released

The Elive Team is proud to announce the release of the beta version 2.7.2
This new version includes:
  • Spotify works directly on the fly on your Elive system!
  • Designs: much much improved designs for the icons and theme, see details at continuation
  • fixes: thunar opens terminology as default terminal, admin mode works back too
  • Gimp includes a much better and improved default configuration like single window mode or an increased number of undeletes

Notes from the Developers:

Designs: There’s a big work, but not yet finished, about the designs, specially for the icon set of Elive, this includes things like default filetypes associated to icons and a really big rethinking about the intuitiveness of the widget icons, like the icon for delete things which none of the red icons similar to a warning or a stop signal are more intuitive than a small trash icon, the icons used for the dialogs like questions or warnings which we use a lot are also more intuitive to understand what they are for, the hard disk icon in your file manager looks much better now and the trash has even a recyclate state when its full. The icons in the menu of applications are also updated to better ones, your filemanager icon is more intuitive too, The eject button for your medias are much more visible and intuitive too, and a Big list not mentioned 🙂

Themes: Like the design of icons, the theme for gtk applications (most of them) are improved too, but there’s also other ones included with verified compatibility and correct looking, like darker themes. If you are not satisfied yet, there’s also a set of icon themes to pick if you want a different design like those new flat ones!

Remember:

We need your feedback, each new beta version could include things not working as expected, if is the case please contact us so that we can fix the problem asap. The beta versions are not so optimized as the Stable ones due to debug flags and developer profiles, its also less beautiful and less ready for the end users, you can encounter errors or uncomplete things, if you want a more polished system try the Stable version instead.
