Testimonials

Elive is definitely the best looking distributions available. It uses the Enlightenment desktop environment. I have never used Enlightenment before. The ELIVE default desktop is absolutely gorgeous! The stars in the sky twinkle and move throughout the very nice looking background. The application dock at the bottom of the screen is cute, in fact better than Mac OSX. I am soon gonna switch over to Elive. I love it.

Keep up the good work Thanatermesis. You have done a fantastic job by producin

I have been impressed with Elive and e17 for quite a while...

Yesterday I did two things:

1. I re-installed Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

2. I installed a dual boot to Elive Gem 1.0

Both installs went without event, I was most impressed with how Elive set up a custom grub menu, with the 3 options:

1. Elive Gem 1.0

2. Windows XP Media Center Edition

3. Memory Diagnostic test

I was also impress

Last year I downloaded a Elive CD and was pretty amazed by it. although it did crash alot but I saw the potential :)

Now, a few month's ago I bought a HP DV9064ea and I thought by myself let's give elive another run and everything runs out of the box once you install it, unbelievable even the integrated webcam seems to function.

Great job with this fine distro :)

When Vista came out, that's when I said,"I have had enough of Windows!".

It gets me that every time Microsoft comes out with a new OS, might as well throw the old one out. Linux is so expandable and we all work together to come out with things as sweet as Elive!

One of the best things i ever tested!!! So fast and smooth, its my dream OS. I have a P4 with 512mb and runs very fast, and i dont even installed it!!!!

Windows Vista? 1GB for optimal performance?? NOT!

repository-change-icedslash

- Samuel F. 'Thanatermesis' Baggen (27-Mar-09 18:40)

Like you may know, Elive in the past has used its Elive repository at the same time as the Debian one, actually Elive uses its own Debian repository, it is just a snapshot of the original Debian one, the reason of that is because on this way, the users will not experience anymore surprises like updates that will change things on its Elive system, now the idea is that if the user upgrade the system, all the packages that will need Elive changes will have it.

Im going to remove the subdomain repository.elive-systems.com and debian.elive-systems.com, so if you are using it, please change it to us.repository.elive-systems.com and us.debian.elive-systems.com, also, my friend ikevin has just finished to set up the big repository mirror for Europe, using the very powered icedslash servers, so if you are in europe, you will use europe.repository.elive-systems.com and europe.debian.elive-systems.com instead the US ones for a faster re

- Samuel F. 'Thanatermesis' Baggen (17-Feb-09 01:06)

The Elive Website has now a Blog!, this section is to be used for discussing about future Features, Ideas, Implementations, etc... in a less serious way than the News section.

You can use the RSS feed of only News, or Blog only, or both at the same time (the default mode will use both). Please continue reading for more info...
